Planning a Trip

When, Where, and How Long to Stay?

Like anything else, the more time and effort you put into planning your vacation, the smoother and more relaxing it will be when you arrive at Walt Disney World. It would be best if you started planning your vacation about 9 months to 1 year ahead of time. The first things you will need to decide is what time of the year you want to visit, how long you to stay, and where you will stay. You can make a hotel reservation in this time frame but will have plenty of time to change it for any reason.

Dining and Recreation Reservations

The next milestone leading up to your vacation will be the 180-day mark. This is the day that you will be able to start making dining reservations. If you’re staying at a Disney resort, you can make reservations for the first 10 days of your trip on this day. Reservations can be made on the Disney World website through My Disney Experience or by calling 407-WDW-DINE. You can also start making reservations for tours, Spas, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Dessert Parties, and recreational activities at the 180-day mark. It would be best if you planned out which parks you want to visit on each day of your trip in conjunction with making your dining reservations.

Fastpass+ Reservations

At the 60-day mark, Disney Resort guest can make their Fastpass+ reservations. Theme park admission is required to make Fastpass reservations, so make sure to purchase your park passes before this milestone.

Guests not staying at a Disney Resort can make Fastpass+ reservations beginning 30 days before their vacation. We recommend following the below guides to fit the most into your days at the theme parks. These are just guidelines though, so you can adjust them and substitute attractions in and out to meet your personal preferences.
