Theme ParksMagic Kingdom ⇒ Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland is a vision into the future, at least the future as it was seen in the early 1990s when Tomorrowland was last refurbished at the Magic Kingdom.  Walt Disney was fascinated by space travel as well as the idea of a futuristic city much of Tomorrowland is rooted in those ideas, from Space Mountain to the TTA Peoplemover.  The Peoplemover, along with the Astro Orbiter and Tomorrowland Speedway, bring a kinetic energy to Tomorrowland that lends to feel of a futuristic city.  In recent years, Stitch and Mike and Sully have moved into Tomorrow land to bring some new life to the area.  The metallic and neon light Tomorrowland may no longer represent the future, but it’s an interesting look at what the future was once thought to be.

Tomorrowland at Night

  • The oldest attraction in the Magic Kingdom, older than the park itself, can be found in Tomorrowland.   The Carousel of Progress debuted at the 1964 World’s Fair, making it older than Walt Disney World
  • Tomorrowland has robotic palm trees around the land that used top open during the day and close at night making this land little less “lush” than the rest of the park
  • This land inspired some of the visuals in the 2015 film Tomorrowland.  See if you can spot Space Mountain the next time you watch the movie
  • The Contemporary can be seen from Tomorrowland, in fact, it’s pretty much the only land that has a good view of the nearby resort.  Don’t think it’s a mistake that the modern look of The Contemporary was hidden from view in the rest of the Magic Kingdom
